    Celebrate the Fourth of July at these Greater New Orleans events

    NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — It’s about that time to pull out everything red, white and blue!

    As the Fourth of July approaches, many people are searching for patriotic festivities to attend in the Crescent City.

    Whether you want to watch a firework display or participate in a food eating contest, WGNO has curated a list of events that you can enjoy this 4th.

    On Wednesday, June 29, Sparks in the Park will be held at Bogue Falaya Park in Covington from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. According to its website , the event is free entry and will have live music from the Covington Concert Band, a hot dog and pie eating contest and firework display.

    From 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., the 26th annual Slidell Heritage Festival will be held at Heritage Park. The festival will include food, live music and a firework show.

    From 6 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., Happy 3rd of July will take place at City Park. According to its website, the event will have a free concert and firework display for all to enjoy.

    On Wednesday, July 3, the St. Charles Independence Celebration will be held at West Bank Bridge Park in Luling from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This free event will have food and drinks to purchase, live music from the band Sugar Shaker and fireworks.

    NOLA Black Wall Street to give away free car to local graduating senior

    The St. John Independence Day Celebration and Firework Show will be held on the grounds of St. Peter Catholic Church in Reserve and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgard at 9 p.m.

    Lafreniere Park’s annual Uncle Sam Jam will be held on Wednesday, July 3 at 3 p.m. The event will feature live music performances from artists, food and a firework show, according to its website . The event will also have a Hot Dog Eating Championship.

    National champ gymnasts soar at summer camp in Gretna

    On Thursday, July 4, Go Fourth on the River will be held on the New Orleans Riverfront in the French Quarter. According to its website , the event will commence at 6 p.m. and include a firework show and water show on the General Roy S. Kelley fireboat.

    On the Fourth of July, Light Up the Sky Fireworks will be held at Zemurray Park in Hammond. According to its website , the firework show will be from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

    According to its website , the 40th annual St. Bernard Salutes America will be held on the grounds of Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Along with the fireworks, there will be live music from Adam Pearce from NBC’s “The Voice” and The Top Cats.
