Daniel Callihan, charged with first degree murder in the stabbing death of a Tangipahoa Parish woman, is now charged in federal court.

The charges issued in federal court in New Orleans include kidnapping and transporting minors for the purpose of criminal sexual activity.

Callihan, 36, is charged in state court in Louisiana with first degree murder in the death of 35-year-old Callie Brunett of Loranger earlier this month. He also faces state kidnapping charges. Authorities accuse Callihan of taking Brunett's two daughters, 6-year-old Jalie and 4-year -old Erin, with him to Mississippi.

Jackson police arrested Callihan on June 13 and found Erin Brunett murdered. Jalie Brunett was injured but alive.

He and an accomplice, Victoria Cox, face murder charges in Mississippi. Cox is also charged in the Tangipahoa Parish case.

A preliminary hearing in federal court is set for July 12.
