    Why you may have trouble calling 911 in Greater New Orleans

    NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — You may have trouble calling 911 right now if you live in the Greater New Orleans area.

    The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that due to cellular network outages in the area, 911 calls may not be coming through from some providers.

    In Jefferson Parish, call 504-227-1400 to contact the dispatch center if you can’t reach 911.

    Orleans Parish is facing the same issue. Orleans Parish Communications District officials warn callers to not hang up once in the queue. If you can’t reach 911 in Orleans Parish, try the following phone numbers:

    • 504-671-3600
    • 504-513-6594
    • 504-821-2222

    If you can’t reach 311 in Orleans Parish, try calling 504-539-3266.

    Orleans Parish district attorney demands change to juvenile electronic monitoring program

    Additionally, the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office announced that its 911 phone system and non-emergency line are currently not able to receive calls from landlines.

    According to SBSO officials, cellphones are not affected by the system being down.
