Scoot: Murder by illegals has turned political

Any murder is tragic, but when a U.S. citizen is killed by an illegal immigrant, the tragedy turns political.

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry is blaming President Biden’s lack of security at the border for a recent murder in the French Quarter.  Last month, a French Quarter tour guide, Kristie Thibodeaux, 43, was murdered and one of the suspects, Joshua Bonifacio-Avila, 19, entered this country illegally.  The headline of the story on FoxNews.com reads: “Suspect in New Orleans tour guide murder in US illegally, has criminal history: ICE.” The sub-headline reads: “Kristie Thibodeaux, a New Orleans French Quarter tour guide who loved Lake Pontchartrain sunset, killed in robbery attempt.”

The article published on the FoxNews.com website gives context to the murder by personalizing the victim because the suspect is in America illegally.  What about the victims of the other recent murders in the French Quarter - do they not have a story?  Why weren’t the other victims given the attention this victim was given?  It’s because in this case the suspect was not an American - he is an illegal migrant.

I repeat - ANY murder is tragic, but we should all be critical of this new reality that Americans killed by Americans do not get the attention as Americans killed by illegals.

In the case of Kristie Thibodeaux, her murder was tragic and if that individual were not in America she would be alive today.  But that should not diminish the heart-breaking stories of countless other murders of innocent Americans at the hands of other Americans and the ease with which people like Gov. Landry will play politics with the sad loss of life is disgusting.

Yes, the southern border is a catastrophe and it has been for a very long time.  Gov. Landry is again playing to a national audience when he blames the recent French Quarter murder on the Biden Administration’s unsecure border.  Landry’s comment led to this story being covered by FoxNews.com.

The suspect, Joshua Bonifacio-Avila is a bad MFer. He had run-ins with the law on several occasions.  One of his encounters with law enforcement came on May 11, 2019 when he tried to enter the country but was denied.  No story I read on this tragic murder made the connection that Donald Trump was president when Bonifacio-Avila tried to get across the border.  This illegal may have entered this country when Trump was president.  He had the rest of 2019 and all of 2020 to try to enter the country.  I doubt he waited until Biden took over the try to get into America.  ICE cannot confirm when or where the suspect illegally entered America, but for Gov. Landry to blame the tragic murder solely on the Biden Administration seems to prove that playing politics with the border is now a political strategy.

I am NOT downplaying the crisis at the border and I am NOT defending the Biden Administration when it comes to the border.  I AM criticizing playing politics with a tragic murder.
