After several days with showers that kept our temperatures close to normal, excessive heat warnings return to the weather report.

Those warnings will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, as high temperatures approach 94° and heat indices top out near 112°. Rain chances on both days are lower than what we've had the last few days, diminishing chances of heat relief. However, with a 30-percent chance of rain in the metro area, some of you may see pop-up showers.

Next week, your usual July weather will impact the area. Expect lots of heat, humidity, and the occasional shower or storm. High temperatures will be in the low- to mid-90s with indices well into the triple digits. Rain chances will increase in the back end of the week because of a front that's expected to push into the region.
