Former Saints Super Bowl champion recently discussed joining Dennis Allen's staff

One of the most notable defenders from the Saints' Super Bowl XLIV victory could join the team's coaching staff soon, according to an interview he had earlier this week.

Former Saints Super Bowl champ Roman Harper discussed joining Dennis Allen's staff

Harper says that he is going to attempt to go to Saints training camp next week, and he has been talking about a potential spot on staff with head coach Dennis Allen. It would be a great addition of a former franchise leader and intelligent football mind.

Harper was a key contributor in 2009 .

He totaled 103 tackles during that season, including 11 for loss and 1.5 sacks. He also forced two fumbles and broke up five passes. Harper added seven tackles and forced a fumble during the Super Bowl win against the Indianapolis Colts.

He's been a key member for SEC Network's college football coverage in recent years. That's where many folks may know him from since he hung up the cleats.

The long-time Saints DB was inducted into the franchise's Hall of Fame in 2021

Harper spent eleven years in the NFL. He totaled 11 interceptions, 16 forced fumbles, 18 sacks, and 820 total tackles.

Harper's fifteen forced fumbles as a Saint rank sixth among the team's all-time leaders and first among their franchise's defensive backs, according to John Hendrix .

During SEC Media Week, Harper called Dennis Allen one of his favorite coaches who he's ever played for. He went on to say that he's always had a 'great relationship' with Allen and general manager Mickey Loomis, and that they've always been 'very open' whenever Harper has come back for functions with the franchise. -- Hendrix
