The team looks to hand Kansas City their first loss of the season in primetime, but that's going to prove to be a tall task at hand. Follow along with all of the action with our live game thread with updates and notes from the game. </p><h2><strong> Pregame Notes </strong></h2><ul><li> Willie Gay Jr. made the trip for the Saints, and it's unfortunate that he won't be playing against his former squad. A lot of Chiefs Kingdom was pretty disappointed to see this too. He had a procedure on his left hand, but it's unclear how much time he'll miss. </li><li> Retired offensive lineman James Hurst is out here for WDSU, the local NBC station in New Orleans. He was speaking with the Saints brass prior to kickoff that included Mickey Loomis, Jeff Ireland, Khai Harley and Derek Stamnos. </li><li> We'll see how much action Lucas Patrick sees tonight. He's dealing with a groin injury and was questionable coming in. I wouldn't be surprised to see him as the team's emergency option, but walkthroughs will tell us more. </li><li> A good bit could be riding on the outcome of this game. I'm talking about Davante Adams. The Saints feel good about the position they're in to potentially acquire him, and a good offensive showing tonight will help reinforce it. It really depends how the line plays, which is a considerable concern for New Orleans. </li><li> Well, walkthroughs showed us that Patrick must be okay. He was snapping to Derek Carr and the line was (left to right): Trevor Penning, Nick Saldiveri, Lucas Patrick, Landon Young, Taliese Fuaga. Newcomer Connor McGovern is the backup center, while Kyle Hergel is the backup guard and Oli Udoh the backup tackle. </li><li> Rookie Jaylan Ford was at linebacker with Demario Davis and Anfernee Orji. </li><li> New Orleans won the coin toss and elected to receive. I didn't see that coming. </li></ul><nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate><h2><strong> First Quarter - Chiefs 7, Saints 0 </strong></h2><h3><strong> Scoring </strong></h3><ul><li> Chiefs, 6:34 (10-78, 5:25) - Kareem Hunt 5-yard run. </li></ul><h3><strong> Notes </strong></h3><ul><li> That's a crazy run by Alvin Kamara on 3rd-and-1. He even had a little help from Derek Carr, but that should have been a big loss. </li><li> Horrible decision by Derek Carr to throw the ball there. Why? </li><li> D'Marco Jackson ended up playing alongside Anfernee Orji and Demario Davis on the first defensive drive. </li><li> Leaving Travis Kelce open over the middle is not good. He picked up 21 with ease and is clearly a featured player for Kansas City tonight. </li><li> Hot knife through butter on that Saints defensive drive. Little resistance, if any. </li><li> You had a really big chance on the deep shot to Mason Tipton. That should have connected. </li><li> You got the finish the play, but at least New Orleans was able to get a stop on Kansas City's offense to force a punt. </li><li> Another rough offensive drive for the Saints. That throw on the run by Carr should have hit Rashid Shaheed. The deep attempt wasn't a bad decision, but there's no way that was going to draw a pass interference call. </li><li> Last three Chiefs runs to close out the quarter went for 8, 8 and 7 yards. Dude is just something else. </li><li> Lucas Patrick doesn't look quite right out there. He's limping some in between plays. He is staying in there and toughing it out. Give him credit for that. </li><li> Big hookup to Shaheed to get 15 yards and get across midfield. </li><li> Just an absolute beautiful hookup from Carr to Shaheed to get the Saints back in it. You just ask yourself, where's that been? </li><li> When you have good coverage downfield and Mahomes is able to pick it up on the ground it's just defeating at times. </li><li> Will Harris came up very hobbled trying to make a play on the 18-yard hookup from Mahomes to Xavier Worthy. He was in a lot of pain and eventually got to his feet and went to the Saints sideline, walking gingerly. It looked like it's either a cramp or hamstring. Johnathan Abram is in for him. </li><li> Alontae Taylor made a great play on Carson Steele and forced a fumble. He's easily been on the best players the Saints have had this season. </li><li> Saints go from a 2nd-and-34 to 4th-and-1. That's just incredible. That's a heck of a play by Travis Kelce too. What are you supposed to do? </li><li> Harris ended up taking a cart ride to the Saints locker room and had a towel over his head. Just another blow to New Orleans. </li><li> Better late than never, Chase Young gets a sack. </li><li> E for Effort by Mason Tipton on a catch that didn't count. </li><li> I really didn't like the 3rd Down call for a screen. Maybe he just needed some time. </li><li> Saints catch a big break with the Butker miss. Let's see if they can take advantage. </li><li> Unfortunately, they weren't able to. They had a big 3rd Down hookup from Carr to Foster Moreau, but then the 3rd-and-7 resulted in an illegal shift despite a Mason Tipton first down and then Carr was sacked on the ensuing play. </li><li> Lucas Patrick ended up going to the locker room. We're not sure what that's about. </li><li> That's an easy pass interference call on Paulson Adebo. That's his 7th penalty of the year that includes interference/holding. </li><li> What a crazy turn of events with Khalen Saunders getting an end zone pick and having a nice return. That's something after he just got highlighted on the previous play for his contact on Kelce. </li><li> Connor McGovern is at center. </li><li> The Carr to Shaheed pipeline is working. The screen game is not. </li><li> Saints using a timeout at the end of the quarter like clockwork. Saints needed that, but that's also Grupe's second missed extra point of the year. </li><li> Saints defense picks a great time to breakdown. 50 yards to Juju Smith-Schuster and he was wide open as everything. </li><li> Tempers boiling over on the field after the play. That drive is not what New Orleans needed after working hard to get back in it. </li><li> Lucas Patrick is at left guard and Nick Saldiveri is on the bench. </li><li> Not sure why the false start got negated due to the personal foul penalty. Maybe because it was after the whistle? </li><li> That 4th Down play was so close, but you don't get almost points. Carr looked like he was in a little pain after the play. </li><li> Carr ended up going into the injury tent. Jake Haener has his helmet on and is warming up.
