Moreau College Initiative Film Accepted into 2024 Heartland Film Festival
The Moreau College Initiative (MCI) is proud to announce that its film, “Regenerate Indiana: Land and People Made Whole,” has been chosen to be showcased at the 2024 Heartland Film Festival. The film will screen in-person on Saturday, July 27 at 2:30 PM at Newfields as part of the festival’s Spotlight: Indiana Humanities Unearthed Cohort program, followed by a live Q&A session with the film’s production team.
Health briefs: Make a Memory Bear at Lory's Place
ST. JOSEPH — Lory’s Place, 445 Upton Drive, will host a Memory Bear Activity from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 25. Create your own Memory Bear from a special item of clothing from your loved one. Sewing needles, thread, and sewing pattern will be provided, along with some small embellishments. Participants will be walked through the process of making a simple bear together as a group, and additional help will be available for those who may need assistance. Syracuse Town Council Approves Bid For Pearl Street Parking Lot
SYRACUSE — During its regular meeting Tuesday night, July 16. the Syracuse Town Council approved a bid for $391,891.23 for the Pearl Street parking lot paving project. The winning bid was submitted by Beer & Slabaugh. Town Manager David Wilkinson told the council not only did Beer & Slabaugh have no errors in its bid proposal, it was also significantly less than R. Yoder Construction and Niblock Excavating, the other bidders. Work is to start soon with the parking lot being significantly complete sometime in November.
