A re-dedication event took place on LaPorte Street, where a makeshift memorial stood since the tragic fire that claimed the lives of the “Smith 6.”
Mishawaka McDonald’s raises over $20,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities
MISHAWAKA, Ind. (WNDU) - A local McDonald’s is recognized for raising thousands of dollars for Ronald McDonald House Charities. The restaurant off Lincolnway East and Capital Avenue in Mishawaka raised more than $10,000 through its “Round-Up for RMHC” program in the the second quarter of 2024, making its grand total more than $20,000 so far for this year.

Man carries firearm on walk to Northside Middle School, EPD confiscates gun
ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart Police Department responded to a local school for a report of a suspicious person with a firearm around 8:04 a.m. on Thursday morning. When the officers arrived at Northside Middle School (300 Lawrence Street) they learned that a man was allegedly walking a family member to school when school security approached him on the sidewalk by the front doors.
