TUSCARAWAS VALLEY ‒ What's the Fourth of July holiday without a fireworks display?

Numerous fireworks shows are planned throughout the area in celebration of the nation's 248th birthday. Here is a list of where you can see them:

    • Wood's Tall Timber Resort, 1921 Tall Timber Road NE, New Philadelphia, will have fireworks at 10 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $8 per person before 4 p.m. and $10 per person after 4 p.m. The Moonlyterz will be appearing that evening from 8 to 11.
    • Fireworks, provided by the city of New Philadelphia, will be at 10 p.m. July 6 at Tuscora Park. The display is being held in conjunction with the 47th annual First Town Days Festival, which runs from July 4 to 7. One of the best places to watch that show is at the ballfields at the park. Events planned on July 6 during the festival include the annual McInturf Realty-Lawver Homes 5K Race, the Roberts Uniforms City versus County Softball Game, the Kiddie Pedal Tractor Pull sponsored by Parkway Auto Superstores, and the annual Baby Contest sponsored by Commercial and Savings Bank. Admission is free.
    • The annual Country Fantasy in the Sky fireworks show will be held at 10 p.m. July 6 at the conclusion of the annual Gnadenhutten Fireworks Festival. The display, synchronized to music, has been the highlight of the festival for more than 30 years. Other activities that day include a car show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a parade at 4:30 p.m. Admission is free.
    • The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District will have fireworks at several of its lakes during the Fourth of July weekend. The display at Tappan Lake Park, 84000 Mallarnee Road, Deersville, is scheduled for 10 p.m. July 5. Displays also slated for July 6 include Atwood Lake Park, 9500 Lakeview Road NE, Mineral City; Charles Mill Lake Park, 1277A Ohio 430, Mansfield; and Seneca Lake Park, 22172 Park Road, Senecaville. All three of these shows begin at 10 p.m. Visitors can watch from land or water. Admission to the parks on the day of the display is $15 per vehicle.
