Meridian tiny home case sees ruling after two years
After two years, Chasidy Decker’s tiny home lawsuit against the city of Meridian has come to a close. On Tuesday, Judge Jason Scott ruled against Decker and Robert Calacal’s lawsuit, which challenged Meridian’s ban on tiny homes on wheels. Decker moved to Leisure Lane in Meridian in May 2022, sharing a lot with Calacal’s home after agreeing to pay rent to Calacal every month. ...

Olympian and Boise State Alum Marisa Howard to Join Broncos as Assistant Coach
BOISE, Idaho – Following her participation in the Olympics, former Bronco runner Marisa Howard will be joining the Boise State track & field and cross country staff as an assistant coach, head coach Pat McCurry announced, Wednesday. Howard ran for the Blue & Orange between 2010-15 competing in long distance events.
24-year-old Lewiston man arrested for allegedly raping a 6-year-old
LEWISTON, Idaho – A 24-year-old man from Lewiston was arrested for allegedly raping a 6-year-old child. According to the Lewiston Police Department, detectives were called to a house in Lewiston on the evening of July 23 when a family member of the child walked in and reportedly saw the suspect identified Dakota Hall, 24 allegedly raping the child. Police subsequently interviewed the witness, the child victim and the suspect. Both the child and the witness stated that the man had engaged in lewd conduct.

Kootenai County firefighters lend a hand with Oregon wildfire
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — On Saturday night, the state of Oregon requested the state of Idaho send firefighters to help with the Durkee Fire in eastern Oregon. By 5 a.m. Sunday, volunteers from Kootenai County Fire and Rescue, Timberlake Fire Protection District and Hauser Lake Fire Protection District and Worley Fire District mobilized to lend their assistance with battling the blaze. Each North Idaho department sent two firefighters and a brush truck to fulfil the request.
Pool offers additional swimming lessons
BONNERS FERRY — If your young ones still need swimming lessons, the Bonners Ferry Municipal Pool is now offering additional lessons starting Aug. 5-16. These lessons included levels 1 to 6 and even a “Mommy and Me” class for ages 0-3-year-olds at 11:20 a.m., limited space to nine adults.
Prosecutor threat case advances to district court
BONNERS FERRY — The case of a local woman charged with threatening the Bonners Ferry city prosecutor has advanced to district court. JaMisha Nevarez, 47, locally known as Misha Nuamann-Davis, formerly the CEO at the Senior Hospital Center, is facing a felony charge for alleged threats against the city prosecutor, Andrakay Pluid.
Brush fire ignites along Interstate 15 south of Blackfoot
BLACKFOOT — Firefighters extinguished a brush fire that ignited along Interstate 15 south of Blackfoot on Wednesday. The blaze along Interstate 15's southbound lanes was reported around 4 p.m. and contributed to significant traffic congestion on the freeway. The fire scorched about two acres of farmland on the west side of the freeway before firefighters from the Blackfoot and Fort Hall fire departments extinguished the flames. ...
New mocktail bar brings active night life to downtown Rexburg
REXBURG – Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name … or at least the type of environment you enjoy hanging out in. The latter is the focus of a new mocktail bar at 32 College Avenue in Rexburg called Fizz Rizz. The non-alcoholic bar opened July 4 and offers daiquiris, pina coladas, margaritas, flavored sodas and more. It also has pool tables and arcade games. A space to have dances and live performances is in the works.
Troy Reinbold resigns from West Bonner School Board
The West Bonner County School District is down to four trustees after Troy Reinbold advised fellow board members he was stepping down due to work and family commitments. "Finally, I would like to thank Trustee Reinbold for his service over the last 4-plus years," board chair Margaret Hall told the Daily Bee. "He brought to the table an important, valuable and unique perspective."
