    Quartet of Bluejays golfers advance to Section 2AA Championship round

    After 18 holes of the Section 2AA golf championship in New Prague, four Waseca golfers find themselves in the top 30 to advance to the championship round Tuesday, June 4, morning. Hunter Anderson, Cody Vagts, Madison Rasche and Emma Keith will all have a chance to compete for one of the five individual bids available for the MSHSL Class AA State Championships next week.

    Anderson is currently tied for fourth after the first 18 holes with a +1 round of 73 while Vagts is tied for 12th with a +4 round of 76 in the boys tournament. Meanwhile, Rasche and Keith are tied for 21st with rounds of 99 in the girls tournament.

    The top team finisher in the section will advance it’s golfers to the state tournament with the top five individuals not on the championship team also qualifying for state. All four Bluejays golfers will return to the links Tuesday morning in New Prague with Rasche, Keith and Vagts all expected to tee off at 10 a.m. while Anderson is expected to begin play at 10:10 a.m.

    The individuals that did not qualify for the finals will see their varsity season’s come to a close. For the boys, Max Bodenweiser (92), Braiden Nelson (96), Brody Dufault (96) and Preston Miller (109) wrapped up their spring while for the girls, Mia Kanewischer (108), Lexi Kanewischer (120) and Elli Hoban (132) will continue to support their teammates from the sidelines.
