Through the looking glass of past, present, and future aspects of cultural norms – its flaws, successes, progressions, and demises are all explored in a timeline constructed by Miss Bug’s visual critique of contemporary times with their generation of present-day artifacts revealing negative aspects that have been thrust upon mankind through modern advances, all the while reflecting on our collective nostalgia.

Miss Bugs is a UK based artistic duo known for their innovative kaleidoscopic patterns of resin-encapsulated razorblades, drug paraphernalia, and pop culture icons which pair nostalgic iconography with contemporary technique. Their unique artistic statement and its implied irony is cemented in the fact that our current technological advances have infiltrated many aspects of our private lives and hold us hostage to our addictions, obsessions, and fascinations. These themes draw on our insensibilities living in the modern world, but do so with seemingly innocent, colorful, and contemporary mixed-media art. New artworks explore a common theme of society's obsession and consumption of social media and technology and how these innovations filter what we see.

The “Data Rader” series of 3-D wall sculptures are vibrantly colored resin artworks that contain cut paper, surgical blades, and embossed butterfly wings – a comment on our addiction to digital technology, and how overexposure to news reels, screens, and digital feeds can act as an anesthetic and numb the sense of reality.

These seemingly sweet lollies are made up of three layers of different colored resin that mimic the reflective surfaces of TV and mobile phone screens ubiquitous in today's society. Paired with surgical blades, syringes and various painkillers and packaged in sterile, pharmaceutical orderliness, these pieces explore the idea of how society's addiction and reliance on digital technology can act as a dangerous “anesthetic” that dulls reality.
