While the NCAA transfer portal offers programs another avenue toward roster-building and talent acquisition, traditional recruiting of high school prospects never stops, and even in the current dead period those official visits in June are becoming commitment announcements in July and August before players kick off their own senior seasons. Man sentenced to 12 years in prison after deadly drag racing crash in January 2023
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A man who pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide by drag-racing in April, as well as other crimes, was sentenced to a total of 12 years in prison on Friday. Tra'Shawn Glass entered a blind plea in late April, meaning there was no recommended punishment term between him and Knox County prosecutors. He was also charged with drag racing and with assaults.

Catalytic converter thieves hit Stinnett Automotive
Newport Police responded Thursday, July 25 to Stinnett Automotive on West Broadway regarding several vehicles on the auto dealership’s lot that had catalytic converters removed. According to an incident report, a total of six vehicles were discovered by employees to have been vandalized. Three of the vehicles were inventory for sale on the lot and three were at the dealership for repairs or awaiting pickup.
