San Antonio cancer research company launches New York expansion
The START Center for Cancer Research in San Antonio has struck a partnership with New York’s Northwell Health to develop a new early-phase clinical trials site at the latter's Zuckerberg Cancer Center on Long Island.<\p> A second START clinical trials site is planned for Northwell’s Goldman Health Care Pavilion in Manhattan and is slated to open in 2026. The outpatient facility will offer innovative care programs for various cancer types. <\p>
Sept. 11 foundation plans Veterans Village in Erie County
A national nonprofit organization plans to tear down a long-vacant nursing home in Cheektowaga, New York, to build a 91-unit apartment building for homeless veterans.<\p> The Tunnel to Towers Foundation was scheduled to present its plans for Veterans Village to the town's planning board this week.<\p>
Gen Z cites housing affordability as its top election issue
In the wake of rapid home-price appreciation during the Covid-19 pandemic, housing is playing a bigger role in how Americans vote — among one demographic in particular.<\p> Ninety-one percent of adult Gen Zers said in a recent Redfin Corp. (Nasdaq: RDFN) survey housing affordability is important when considering whom they will vote for in the presidential election this November. Among a list of nine broad political topics, the subject ranked No. 1 for that generation — ranking even higher than the strength of the overall economy, which was the top priority for millennials, Gen Xers and baby boomers. Housing affordability for Gen Z respondents also outranked issues of education, gun rights and abortion rights.<\p>
Warby Parker to open its first Staten Island store
Warby Parker will open its first Staten Island store at the Staten Island Mall on June 15.<\p> The 1,500-square-foot space, located at 2655 Richmond Ave., features two murals by New York-based illustrator Ilya Milstein.<\p>
Ocean-to-table concept to open in Midtown
Mr. Bao, an ocean-to-table restaurant, will open in New York City’s Midtown neighborhood during the second half of July.<\p> The restaurant will serve seafood from South Africa and occupy an approximately 2,400-square-foot space, located at 110 W. 40th St., that includes ground-floor and lower-level space.<\p>

Great Many, a new hair-growth clinic, has opened in New York City’s NoHo neighborhood.<\p> The 2,200-square-foot space, located at 304 Mulberry St., features a retail area up front, spacious treatment rooms and a waiting area in the back.<\p>
All-day Indian café and wine bar Fontainhas to open in Brooklyn
Fontainhas, an all-day Indian café and wine bar, will open in Brooklyn’s Dumbo neighborhood on June 13.<\p> The restaurant will occupy a 1,750-square-foot space, located at 28 Jay St. and include a dukaan shop with snacks, chutneys, spice blends and other groceries.<\p>
Luxury New York hotel plans renovations this year
The Sofitel New York hotel will embark on a major renovation later this year.<\p> The operator of the 24-year-old hotel at 45 W. 44th St. in Midtown Manhattan said the renovations will encompass “all facets of the hotel,” including the guest rooms, suites, the Presidential Suite, the lobby level, meeting spaces, guest elevators and corridors.<\p>

Williamsburg office building leases 4th floor for event space
A new events space is coming to an office building in the northern part of Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood.<\p> La Sirena Events, an event and catering venue by New York City group Room 11 Hospitality, signed a 15-year lease on the fourth floor of 25 Kent, an eight-story office building owned by Rubenstein Partners. The venue will be called Vesper.<\p>
Slate Property Group buys site approved for housing in Brooklyn
A development site in Brooklyn's Sheepshead Bay neighborhood has been sold to New York City developer Slate Property Group.<\p> Slate paid $24.3 million to acquire 2114-2134 Coyle St., city property records show. The property is also listed at 2150 Coyle St. and has a Dollar Tree and another commercial building on-site.<\p>
Jewelry designer moves NYC office and showroom to space twice the size
New York City jewelry designer Moritz Glik has moved its office and showroom to Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood.<\p> The approximately 3,000-square-foot space, located at 594 Broadway, features 12-foot ceilings and hardwood flooring.<\p>

Miniso to open a store at 'one of best retail corners in Manhattan'
Miniso, a global lifestyle retailer, will open its third New York City location this summer in Manhattan’s Financial District.<\p> The retailer will occupy a 5,000-square-foot space at 150 Broadway, which was previously occupied by Sephora.<\p>
Is there a good time to fly out of New York City’s airports?
If you’re flying out of one of New York City’s three major airports, it’s better to take a red-eye or an early-morning flight if you want to leave on time.<\p> That’s according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s latest Air Travel Consumer Report produced by the Office of Aviation Consumer Protection. The report’s March results — the latest available — indicate what time of day flights depart on time at each of New York’s airports, as well as individual airlines’ on-time performance at the airports.<\p>
