After closing its doors in Seoul on December 29, 2023, Joo Ok is making a significant move overseas in partnership with Hand Hospitality , signaling a new chapter for the esteemed eatery.
Joo Ok has been a notable name in Seoul’s gourmet dining landscape, first earning a Michelin star in 2018 and adding a second star to its accolades in 2021. This recognition underscores the restaurant’s dedication to excellence and innovation in Korean cuisine.
In a heartfelt announcement, Joo Ok expressed gratitude towards its patrons in South Korea and shared anticipation for welcoming guests in New York. “As of December 29, 2023, Joo Ok restaurant Seoul has ceased its operations. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the customers who visited and supported us in South Korea. We look forward to seeing you in New York in 2024,” the statement read.
The new location, situated on the 16th floor of a building in the heart of Koreatown, promises breathtaking views and an ambiance that mirrors the high standards of its culinary offerings. While the exact address remains under wraps, the anticipation among food enthusiasts is palpable.
Joo Ok is renowned for its menu that highlights Korean fermentation techniques, presenting dishes that are both traditional and innovative. The dining experience at the New York location is expected to cost around $200 per person.
