Nordic-Inspired Bar and Restaurant ‘Kabin’ to Open on Spring Street

A new bar and restaurant, Kabin , is set to open at 300 Spring Street in the summer of 2024 . According to paperwork filed for the project, Kabin will offer a Nordic-inspired experience, a concept drawn from the heritage of its owner, Alexandra Nissen Tangen .

The establishment is designed as a “neighborhood cocktail bar” and will occupy a 3,127 square-foot space, featuring seating for 32 across 12 tables, along with a bar that can accommodate an additional 10 patrons, according to the filing.

Michelin-starred chef Johnny Spero of D.C.’s Reverie is being brought on to consult on the culinary component, tasked with creating a menu that reflects the Nordic theme of the bar and restaurant.

Scandinavian designer Jeanette Didon has been enlisted to design the interior of Kabin, ensuring the space aligns with the Nordic aesthetic.

Kabin is set to replace the former Pine & Polk speakeasy at the same location, according to the paperwork.

Further details about the bar and restaurant, including its specific opening date, are expected to be announced closer to the launch, but scans of the proposed menu submitted as part of the liquor licensing process give a glimpse of what could be to come.

Cocktails, priced at $16, accompany a selection of sparkling, white, and red wine, offered by the glass and bottle. To eat are “Lighter” options like Oysters ($21) and Pickled Herring ($17) with options “To Share” including a Nordic Charcuterie Board ($32) and Glogg Braised Beef Stew ($34).

A representative for Kabin told What Now New York more concrete details are slated to be shared in the coming months, closer to the opening.
