STORM WATCH: Cloudy skies, wind and overnight rain in New York City

The News 12 Storm Watch team says to expect cloudy, dry conditions followed by rain and wind overnight.

WHAT'S NEW: The third storm this week is on its way for later tonight through our overnight hours. This system will be bringing heavy rain and gusty winds in a short period of time.

WHAT'S NEXT: The rain is out by early tomorrow morning but followed by some lingering sprinkles and gusty winds through Monday.

TODAY: Cloudy and dry for the first part of the day. Highs near 49.

TONIGHT: Rain moves in and can be heavy at times overnight. Accumulations of 1-3" possible across the island. The rain is paired with gusty winds of 30 to 40 mph. Lows near 44.

SUNDAY: Mostly cloudy and windy with some lingering sprinkles . Gusts remain up to 30 mph. Highs near 54. Lows near 35.

MONDAY: Sun and clouds with more gusty winds. It will be winds for most of the day with gusts reaching close to 40 mph, will feel colder than it is. Highs near 46. Lows near 37.

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs near 55. Lows near 41.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs near 59. Lows near 45.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny. Highs near 63. Lows near 49.
