Sopo is coming to the ground floor of 463 7th Ave. in Midtown’s Garment District.

The restaurant will be a quick-service restaurant, giving patrons the option to order take-out or to dine-in. The Mann Report shared that the Sopo will occupy a 3,156-square-foot space with seating for approximately 20 guests.

What Now NY spoke with Sopo’s co-founder and CEO T. Kim over the phone.

“Sopo means a small parcel in Korean,” Kim explained. “When you order something on Amazon, there is a sense of anticipation people experience knowing that something quality is about to arrive; at Sopo we think of our food the same way. We are offering a package of guaranteed happiness through Korean food. We are a fast casual Korean restaurant suitable for any person for any occasion.”

New York Business Journal reported that Sopo’s new location was once the site of another fast casual restaurant, Dig Inn . The sizable lunch crowds who frequent the area have been a draw for quick-service-style restaurants, but Sopo is hoping to offer a new flavor palette for passersby to try.

“This location has a healthy mix of diverse demographics and foot traffic including commuters, tourists, and students,” said Kim. “We have options for anyone who wants diversity in their food while staying on a budget.”

Kim explained that the menu at Sopo will include Korean barbecue flavors as well as vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. The menu will be divided into sections of proteins, sides and bases, giving guests the option to customize their small parcel of food to fit their flavor preferences.

Sopo is projected to open in late August.
