Sugba , a new Filipino restaurant, is coming soon to Lenox Hill.

Eater NY reports that Sugba is owned by the same owners as Bilao , a concept that opened in August of 2020. Its close proximity to several hospitals made it a hit among healthcare workers.

Owners Jude Canela , Maricris Dinopol and Joan Calanog were featured in The New York Times to discuss their original concept Bilao back when it opened. Over the years, Canela, Dinopol and Calanog formed a tight bond working the night shift together at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Wanting to find a breakfast spot that served Filipino food, the trio of nurses took matters into their own hands and opened their first restaurant.

After three years in business, Bilao posted an announcement to its Instagram page announcing its closure in January of 2024. On a more positive note, the statement hinted at the creation of a new Filipino restaurant in the coming months.

Sugba recently announced on Instagram its address and a notice it is coming soon.

A representative from Sugba did not immediately respond to What Now NY ‘s request for a comment.

There is no confirmed opening date What Now NY can share at this time.
