At a recent meeting of the business licenses & permits committee of Community Board 4, a new restaurant and entertainment concept was proposed for 191 7th Ave.

Experienced restaurateur Bobby Khorrami presented plans for a new restaurant in Chelsea before the committee.

Khorrami is listed as the owner of the proposed establishment. He has ties to Adella Wine Bar and Restaurant as well as The Harrow , both of which have recently closed.

Khorrami did not immediately return What Now NY ’s request for a comment.

In a recording of the committee meeting, Khorrami made a case for the new restaurant.

“Basically, I am trying to create a Mediterranean restaurant,” Khorrami said. “It’s based on the concept that there are 22 countries in the Mediterranean. I want to bring in a little bit from everywhere: Spain, Lebanon, Israel, Greece…”

Per plans submitted to the committee, the menu for the restaurant will include oysters, pasta, lamb chops, fish, lobster and ribeye.

“The space is very big, so I want to bring an entertainment value to it,” said Khorrami. “Everything is about an experience. Food by itself is not enough.”

The layout of the building will be compartmentalized into a restaurant dining space and a private dining room with entertainment. Khorrami expressed plans to have anything from wine and books night to live jazz shows in the space. He shared plans with the community board to install an extensive soundproofing in the back space.

Khorrami said in the meeting that capacity for the space will likely be 170 people maximum.

While the 191 7th Ave location was described by a committee member as a “notorious spot,” Khorrami expressed his interest in being a good neighbor. The unnamed concept will be presented to the full community board for consideration in a few weeks.
