Security Guard Stabbed Multiple Times During Shoplifting Attempt at Hell’s Kitchen Duane Reade

A security guard at Duane Reade on 8th Avenue and W53rd Street was stabbed multiple times when he tried to stop a homeless man from shoplifting, according to police.

The incident happened just before 4pm on Saturday afternoon in Hell’s Kitchen. Cops from the Midtown North Precinct, a block away, responded to the 911 call.

Upon arrival at 900 8th Avenue, the police found the 21-year-old security guard with a stab wound to the arm and multiple stab wounds to his torso.

The security guard was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition and is expected to survive.

Police say they arrested Shadeed Walker, 26, who is undomiciled. The suspect was charged with robbery, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
