When Falafel Tanami was ranked on the New York Times list of the 100 best restaurants in New York City in 2023, it was bombarded with a crowd of new guests. When they made the list again earlier this year, new guests once again swarmed the shop. Fortunately, Falafel Tanami is soon expanding and bringing their creations further north to Manhattan.

Falafel Tanami was founded by husband-and-wife duo Ronen and Galit Tanami . What Now NY connect with Ronen over the phone.

“We are bringing the third generation of this food to Manhattan, following the same recipes our parents and grandparents used,” he said. “My wife Galit and I opened Falafel Tanami seven years ago. Everyone came out and they got to feel the love and compassion we put into our food. Then we got picked up by the New York Times when they put us their list of the 100 best restaurants in New York City.”

The Tanamis are originally from Israel. When they moved to New York, they decided to bring their family tradition of cooking to the city. Their original location is at 1305 E 17th St in Brooklyn. Now, a new location is coming to Manhattan.

“We came from a different place, worked very hard to get here, and now seeing all of the hard work paying off– it’s a dream coming true,” said Tanami. “We started this businesses just myself and my wife, and it’s been an incredible experience to see it get busier over the years. We have put so much love into Falafel Tanami and want to share it. We are very excited to be expanding.”

Falafel Tanami will be moving into 415 Greenwich St, and splitting the space with a pre-existing Juice Press .

Falafel Tanami is set to open in the new space around early July.
