Boomer and Gio opened their show on Wednesday morning by raving about the Knicks blockbuster trade with the Nets, which brought Mikal Bridges to MSG for five first-round picks, though the official deal has yet to be announced.

“In the short term, you could not have put the Knicks in a better situation if you’re Sean Marks,” Gio said. “This is the guy I think they wanted more than anybody.”

Both Boomer and Gio love the trade, but they agree that it needs to come with the re-signing of OG Anunoby to stack the team with formidable wings to contend for a championship.

“The way this team is built and what they’re trying to do to build a team that will compete with and ultimately beat the Celtics, you need to have OG Anunoby on this team,” Gio said. “You need to have Anuboby back, Bridges back, guys who can get in the face of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.”

Boomer believes that Leon Rose will make that happen, which will give the Knicks one of the best rosters in the Eastern Conference next season.

“It’s amazing what Leon Rose has done here now, and how he has reconfigured this roster,” Boomer said. “Assuming they can re-sign OG Anunoby, this roster is going to be a very formidable one.”
