Team USA women's basketball head coach Cheryl Reeve slammed media members for their lack of coverage of her WNBA team, the Minnesota Lynx , after winning the Commissioner's Cup on Tuesday night over the New York Liberty .

"You got to talk about us now, you've got no choice," Reeve said. "We don't really care what you think, except for right now, when we get to say to you, 'You've got to talk about us.'

"We just beat a superteam. You know how hard that is to do? Because you guys love your superteams. That's all you want to talk about. But we just beat a superteam. Let's talk about it."

The Lynx's 94-89 victory gives them a trophy no matter how the rest of the WNBA season plays out, providing a tangible feat after beginning the campaign 13-3. They have not received the same national attention as teams such as the Indiana Fever, Chicago Sky, Las Vegas Aces and arguably the Liberty, who made the WNBA Finals last campaign.

New York boasts household names Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones and Sabrina Ionescu. Minnesota wants its own superstar, Napheesa Collier, to get the same spotlight as she vies for MVP honors.

Collier scored 21 points for the Lynx in the Commissioner's Cup final and provided her typical defensive intensity.

“Means a lot. Testament to where we are at this season,” Collier said. “This is the best group. Our personalities mesh so well. Any night anyone can have 20. Bridget had an outstanding game. It’s so fun.”

She added: “It’s really good, always want to win championships. This is a championship we won, but there’s still work to be done. A lot of games to be played. We want to build on this. We don’t want to peak here. This is amazing at the end of the day we want to achieve bigger things than this at the end of the season."

Beating the Liberty was no small feat. New York entered play having won 11 of its past 12 games. Still, the Lynx reminded themselves afterward that there's more they need to do to finish the regular season strong and make a deep playoff run.

The Lynx believe they have the roster foundation to challenge the WNBA's elite trio of the Liberty, Aces and Connecticut Sun if they meet in the postseason, largely because of their togetherness.

"We have a lot of offensive threats, but on defense, we're so solid," Collier said. "That's why it's so hard to play against us. Our aggressiveness, our willingness to sell out on anything [because] we have each other's backs."

Next month, Collier will join Reeve at the Olympics in Paris as Team USA attempts to win another gold medal.
