The Knicks got Mikal Bridges Tuesday and then made a blockbuster re-signing just before Wednesday’s NBA Draft: reports have the team re-signing OG Anunoby to a massive five-year, $212.5 million deal.

Anunoby was acquired mid-season from Toronto and the Knicks were 20-3 with him in the lineup down the stretch, and were up 2-0 on Indiana in the Eastern Conference semifinals when he hur his hamstring and missed Games 3-6 before finishing ineffective in Game 7.

One of the premier defenders on the wing in the NBA, Anunoby led the NBA in steals in 2022-23 and averaged 1.4 per game last year, to go along with 14.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.

Between Anunoby’s re-signing and the Bridges deal, the Knicks are now very close to the projected salary cap with eight contracted players, which could hamper their ability to try to re-sign center Isaiah Hartenstein, whose is expected to have offers higher than what the Knicks could offer.
