Mysterious bell baffles locals after ringing for weeks at New York subway station as no one knows why

A mysterious ringing bell has been plaguing a NYC train station and all the businesses operating within for weeks - and authorities still have no clue where it's coming from.

The relentless bell has been ringing nonstop for nearly two weeks at the 50th Street station, with a piercing sound akin to a school bell. The sound can be heard at the entrance to the downtown 1 train platform.

Owners of the local businesses next door have tried to find the source of the ringing, but no one has any clue. The owner of the pizza spot in the station, See No Evil Pizza, has tried calling the landlord and past tenants, who couldn't help. The MTA also had no idea what was happening - yet.

The bell's noise inexplicably fluctuates throughout the tunnel. In some places, it's very loud, while in others, you can hear a faint echo of ringing.

Adrien Gallo, who owns three businesses within the station's confines, told the NY Post he was doing his best to cope. "You hear it strongly only right here," he explained, demonstrating how the sound weakens just steps away.

"It's a nuisance, but we keep the door closed so you can't hear it," commented one worker. "It did stop for like a day and then came back on it. So it might be like a power thing. I'm not exactly sure.

"I called my landlord and talked to the old tenant...and they can't figure it out," added Gallo, referring to storefronts on the street level next door.

Elsewhere in NYC, a massive fish measuring 6 feet long and weighing 220 pounds was discovered during an environmental study in the Hudson River in New York .

The huge fish was caught last week by employees of the Hudson River Estuary Program while conducting an Atlantic sturgeon survey. “It was suspected to be a female that had not yet spawned,” said the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in a statement on social media. “The fish was captured under a National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) endangered species research permit.”

Sturgeon are an endangered anadromous fish species, according to officials, that spend the majority of the year in the ocean . However, around this time of year, adults may occasionally migrate from anyplace in Florida to Maine to spawn.
