JoJo Siwa Couldn’t Find Whoever Booed Her at NYC Pride Event But Tells Them: ‘Respectfully, F-ck You’

JoJo Siwa is going to have to hope that karma takes care of whoever was booing her during a recent appearance during New York City Pride. The reality star was booked for Trixie Mattel’s concert event in Central Park over the weekend but paused her performance mid-set after getting some less-than-positive feedback from an audience member.

“Who the living fuck just booed me?” Siwa screamed into her microphone, interrogating the crowd. “Where the fuck did that come from? Which one of you?” A video of the incident captures people in the audience yelling back “beat ’em up” and a few additional boos. The dancer eventually moves on with her performance, but not before offering a biting send-off: “Respectfully, fuck you.”

Siwa’s set featured performances of an unreleased record titled “Guilty Pleasure” and her viral-for-the-wrong-reasons single “ Karma .” For the first record, two people in teddy bear costumes joined her on the stage to grind on her leg. During another song, she chugged a bottle of Fireball. During the set, people in the audience tossed a bouquet of flowers and a bra onto the stage.

“No one knew how to deal with the assholes of the world better than I did when I was 12 years old,” she told the audience before performing her official debut single “Boomerang,” which she released in 2016.

Siwa shared a similar sentiment while teasing her single “Choose Ur Fighter” in an Instagram post in May. “For the last few weeks, the world has been fucking brutal,” she said at the time, referring to the mixed response to “Karma.” “They’ve been talking so much shit… but I don’t give a fuck. Choose your fighter, bitch!”

Criticism surrounding Siwa’s attempt to rebrand as an unhinged pop star has noted the try-hard nature of her antics, which don’t often feel rooted in any meaningful musically creative goals.

“Based on Siwa’s own taste in the ostentatious, it makes sense she would go for an over-the-top and hyper-referential version of the coming-of-age career moment. She has not been shy in noting how much she wants her Bangerz moment,” Rolling Stone’ s Brittany Spanos wrote in an assessment of Siwa’s reliance on shock value . “The failure, however, is not only lacking a previous teen-pop career moment that broke beyond her audience bubble and would give this moment more weight (her musical offerings were fairly minimal prior to “Karma”) but also her believing that much of what she’s doing is still shocking culturally in the first place.”
