The New York Liberty faced off against the Atlanta Dream on Monday, with the Liberty defeating the Dream 81-75. In the process, the Liberty continued their best start in franchise history while Breanna Stewart smashed a WNBA record.

Stewart became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 5,000 career points (242 games), passing Phoenix Mercury’s Diana Taurasi (243 games). Stewart led the Liberty with 22 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block and had her 83rd career double-double. With that effort, Stewart passed Rebekkah Brunson for the ninth-most double-doubles in history.

Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu reached 2,000 career points after finishing with 10 points, four assists and four rebounds. She also hit two 3-pointers, extending her streak of at least one 3-pointer made in a regular-season game to 44, the longest active streak in the WNBA.

Additionally, Liberty guard Courtney Vandersloot became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 2,750 career assists (407 games). She joined Sue Bird (496 games) as the only two players in history to record at least 2,750 career assists.

The Liberty will face the Commissioner’s Cup champion Minnesota Lynx on July 2 at 7 p.m. ET at Barclays Center.
