    Extra Extra: The 9/11 Museum is now offering New Yorkers free admission once a month

    It’s Friday afternoon in New York City, where it’s now easier to change your name in court.

    Here’s what else is happening:

    • Air conditioners are becoming more stylish and the marketing around modern AC units is “sexier.” But are they actually doing the job well as we grapple with a climate crisis?
    • Gov. Kathy Hochul passed legislation that requires the use of non-stainless steel , non-offset circle hooks for capturing sharks.
    • Travelers choose destinations for many reasons: best for families, best for adventure seekers, best for romance… and best for Pokémon Go players.
    • After a fire destroyed a New Jersey "Ice Cream Lady’s” truck, locals got together to raise money for a new one.
    • The 9/11 Memorial & Museum is launching a new initiative called New York First Mondays, which provides free admission to New Yorkers on the first Monday of each month beginning at 5:30 p.m.
    • Back in December, GrowNYC received a sizable donation that allowed it to continue operating despite the mayor’s mid-year budget cuts. That money has since fizzled out, and the $6.2 million the city allocated for community composting in this year's budget isn't enough to bring back GrowNYC's Greenmarket compost drop-off sites.
    • Abercrombie & Fitch rebranded and is now bringing in more money than it did during its previous early 2000s heyday.
