The Indiana Fever and New York Liberty are facing off on Saturday afternoon for the fourth and final time this season. Indiana is looking for their first victory over New York on the season, having dropped all three contests prior to this game.
Star rookie Caitlin Clark enters this game having tallied a double-double with points and assists in three of her last four games, as she continues to establish herself as one of the league's best playmakers.
Making WNBA history early in Saturday's game vs. New York, Clark reached another impressive milestone with her passing, becoming the fastest player since 1998 to record 150 career assists (per StatMamba on X).
Clark is also the only player in the WNBA history with at least 350 points, 150 assists, and 100 rebounds in a season, achieving this in just 22 games. This combination of scoring, passing, and rebounding is what separates Clark from so many other players, as she can truly do it all.
Perhaps more impressive than each of these records is what Clark achieved on Saturday by becoming the first rookie in WNBA history to notch a triple-double:
Entering play on Saturday, Clark was averaging 16.0 PPG, 7.1 APG, and 5.7 RPG. The only player in the league averaging at least 15.0 PPG, 5.0 RPG, and 5.0 APG, Clark has not only separated herself in many ways from her rookie class, but her all-around game is on a level no other player in the league is currently at.
While Clark is still very young, and not yet considered the consensus best player in the league, she is doing things in her rookie season that the WNBA has never seen before. Making history nearly every game, Clark is meeting all of the expectations she had entering the league.
