The New York Liberty failed to get the job done against the Indiana Fever after losing 83-78. All eyes are on Caitlin Clark right now after she became the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double. Now, Sabrina Ionescu weighs in on the loss and Clark's performance.
During the post-game press conference, Ionescu didn't mince words by claiming the Liberty lacked urgency against the Fever, according to Myles Ehrlich of Winsidr and WNBA Insider, Jackie Powell. Overall, Sabrina Ionescu seemed impressed with how much the Fever has improved since the beginning of the season. The Fever found a way to overcome the adversity despite New York beating Indiana three times this season.
It was a surprising loss for the Liberty considering they're the first-placed team in the WNBA right now. They look like true contenders but one might have gotten away from them on Saturday. New York may have overlooked the Fever in this contest, which could explain the loss.
Additionally, you can't discount Caitlin Clark whatsoever. She was on an absolute tear against the Liberty recording the very first triple-double of her career. It's an impressive feat considering we've never seen a rookie in the WNBA record a triple-double. Clark finished the game with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 assists.

It's been a fun season for the WNBA so far as more eyes are on the league than ever before. Caitlin Clark continues to excite basketball fans while other stars are expanding in popularity as well. In fact, both Clark and Angel Reese have been on a tear as rookies as they'll both participate in the upcoming WNBA All-Star Game.
As for Sabrina Ionescu, she's been dominating as well. She's easily one of the best scorers in the league and aims to earn her first WNBA Championship this season as long as the Liberty stay hot. So far this season, Ionescu has averaged 18.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game.
Make sure to tune into Caitlin Clark's next game on July 10 as the Fever take on the the Washington Mystics. If Clark can record another triple-double in that contest then basketball fans might just lose their minds. Meanwhile, the Liberty will aim to get back in the win column on July 10 as well as they face off against the Connecticut Sun.
