NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Hot temperatures will remain Sunday as New York City prepares for over 90 degree heat.

After a scorcher Saturday, temperatures will again soar to a high of 93 degrees in the city, with temperatures remaining in the high 80s along the shores.

The city will see mostly sunny skies Sunday with some clouds and potential pop-up showers in the afternoon. But the forecast doesn’t fare so well later in the week.

Rain and thunderstorms could rock the city by Tuesday, remaining through at least Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The city opened its cooling centers over the weekend and pools will remain open until 8 p.m. to provide reprieve.

New York City’s air quality improved to a “moderate” level Sunday.
