The New York Knicks lost Isaiah Hartenstein to the Oklahoma City Thunder this offseason and now must replace his scoring, defense, rebounding and presence in the post.

Coach Tom Thibodeau's team is hoping for healthy returns to action from Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson by the time the 2024-2025 season rolls around.

Meanwhile, a young Knicks big man has been putting in work with former New York point guard Mike Bibby in the gym and his improvement is starting to show.

Jericho Sims, the Knicks' second round pick in 2021 with the number 58 overall selection, has shown promise in workouts and behind the scenes as a potential stopgap option if Robinson and Randle are not at full strength next season.

The former Texas Longhorns star averaged two points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game last season for New York while shooting nearly 70 percent from the field.

Sims did not attempt a three-point shot, but has been working on extending his shooting range in the gym as of late.

He shared an excited reaction to footage of himself getting shots up with Bibby recently.

Could Sims be the answer at the backup center position for Coach Thibodeau's Knicks?

Some fans seemed skeptical on X in the comments section.

"Jericho Sims looks nice on drills and combines but the game speeds up on him," one fan said. "He can't even catch a ball."

Another fan was considerably more upbeat.

"It's the fast release," they said. "That's a level of comfortability I didn't expect to see. Sims 2.0 is loading."
