Hey, get that money while you can. Since becoming one of the most viral videos of 2024, Haliey Welch has been doing her best to capitalize on her newfound fame. If you don't recognize the name, you no doubt know her as the "Hawk Tuah" girl after her interview on the street in Nashville went insanely viral for her answer on how to please a man in bed: "You gotta give him that hawk tuah, spit on that thang."
Since being posted, the interview has racked up millions and millions of views on social media, spawned thousands of memes and jokes, and even inspired countless AI-generated songs. While she originally kept a low profile after going viral, Miss Hawk has since been identified as 21-year old Haliey Welch from Belfast, Tennessee. And she's ready to capitalize on her viral fame, not only signing a manager and PR team but
appearing with Zach Bryan on stage in Nashville and partying with Shaq at Bon Jovi's new bar. Welch has since quit her job at a local spring factory ( dispelling myths that she was fired from her job as a teacher ), and no doubt has countless opportunities flying at her left and right. And according to one report, she's already getting PAID. Page Six reported that Welch is raking in over $30,000 for a trio of upcoming appearances in New York City this weekend, including one at the Memory Motel pop-up bar and nightclub. The event is advertising the opportunity to hang with Hawk Tuah, and tickets are going for either $45 or $55 per person.
https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=24U0rO_0uKPoGyG00 After that event, it looks like Welch is heading to Bullsmith's Tavern, which is offering not only general admission tickets for $40 but VIP packages for the evening that are going for up to $2,000. Then on Sunday, she'll also be stopping by the Ugly Duckling, a restaurant in Long Beach, where tickets go for $40 and the event promises "incredible music, great vibes, and a night to remember." All of the events appear to be from the same promoter, and it's not really clear what Welch will be doing other than offering the opportunity to party with her (and no doubt getting on stage to fire up the crowd with her signature phrase). But all this brings me to my next point: Doesn't it seem like this has all gotten a little out of hand? I mean, the girl's 21 years old and promoters are throwing $30k at her to party in NYC just because of one line in a viral video. And there's already reports that production companies are hoping to sign Welch for a reality series based on her life, and who knows what else is in the works. It just feels like all these people are jumping in to take advantage of her 15 minutes of fame. But then what? And listen, more power to her if she's able to make it work and become a superstar. But more often than not, it seems that these viral sensations have their moment and then are thrown to the side to fail - after they've already quit their job and risked everything for stardom. I dunno, maybe I'm just getting old and jaded, but it seems like we need to pump the brakes on Hawk Tuah for a while.
