NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – Citi Bikes are more expensive in New York City starting Wednesday, with non-members paying 20% more per minute.

Non-members will now pay $0.36 per minute to ride in the city, an increase from the previous $0.30 per minute cost. For annual members, the cost is now $0.24 per minute, but the annual membership price will remain the same.

Rides entering and exiting Manhattan that last 45 minutes or less will cost a maximum of $4.80.

The Citi Bike day pass will remain $19 per day and the annual pass will remain $219.99. Lyft Pink prices will remain $199 per year but the hourly cost for Lyft Pink riders will also increase to $0.24 per hour.

New Jersey e-bike prices will not change, according to Citi Bike.

Representatives of Citi Bike said the second price hike of the year is a result of higher-than-anticipated maintenance costs, including battery swapping and insurance.
