QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — In an effort to reduce mosquito activity and risk of West Nile virus, the New York City Department of Health will be spraying pesticides across parts of Queens.

The adulticide treatment is scheduled for Monday, July 15, and Wednesday, July 17, between 8:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning.

The trucks will spray very low concentrations of Anvil® 10+10, Duet® or MERUS® 3. The Health Department says that while risks of pesticides are low to people and pets, individuals sensitive to spray ingredients could experience short-term eye or throat irritation, or a rash.

Residents can stay safe by staying indoors during the spraying. Those exposed to pesticides should wash skin and clothing with soap and water.

In case of bad weather, spraying will be moved to Tuesday, July 16, and Thursday, July 18. Spraying locations are listed below.
