The New York Rangers have agreed on a two-year, $4.4 million contract with Braden Schneider.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports that Schneider’s new deal will come with a $2.2 million cap hit.

This past season, the 22-year-old recorded five goals, 14 assists and 19 points in 82 games while averaging 15:53 minutes.

Schneider is a player that has been making major strides for the Rangers over the past couple of seasons and could see his role increase even further as he continues his development.

The Rangers also signed defenseman Chad Ruhwedel to a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000, with a total guarantee of $450,000 on Friday.
