All good things must come to an end — even Angel Reese's historic double-double streak.

The Sky rookie is making a strong case to win WNBA Rookie of the Year this season. She has been a rebound machine in her first year as a pro. Her 12.0 rebounds per game lead all players in the league, and she also is averaging 13.5 points per game.

With her excellence in the paint, she strung together an impressive run of 15 consecutive games recording a double-double — at least 10 points and 10 rebounds. That broke the previous WNBA record set by Candace Parker, adding an impressive milestone to Reese's early WNBA resume.

However, the Liberty were not about to allow Reese's streak to go any further. New York stymied Chicago on Saturday afternoon, coming out on top with an 81-67 win over the Sky. While Reese collected 16 boards, she could not hit double digits in points, finishing the game with eight.

Chicago attempted to get Reese the ball in the final minute with the game out of hand. New York did everything in its power to not let Reese get another bucket. The team sent four defenders at the rookie in the final possession, negating any chance at a layup.

Angel Reese highlights vs. New York Liberty

Reese struggled mightily on the road against the Liberty on Saturday afternoon. Her eight points were her lowest total since June 1, when she put up that same figure in a loss to the Fever.

The forward only managed six points from the field, adding two free throws to up her total to eight. She had three chances in the final minutes to get the extra bucket needed for a double-double but fell short.

It was a day filled with missed shots for Reese. Her 23.1% shooting from the field was her worst performance so far in the WNBA.
