Drones will light up the sky over the Hudson on Tuesday, July 16 as part of a Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) tribute in support of critical cancer research.

The display should provide a dazzling end to a MLB All-Star Game public viewing party at Hudson Yards Public Square and Gardens from 6:30-9:30pm, and is inspired by the annual Placard Moment that takes place during the game, when the entire stadium can take a moment to stand and hold up a sign to honor someone in their life impacted by cancer.

So far this year there have been two other drone displays on the Hudson. The first took place in April celebrate the American conglomerate General Electric (GE) transforming into three separate public companies . On July 4, Macy’s kicked off their annual Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular with a drone show that depicted the American flag, stars, and a countdown to the first fireworks being launched.

Both events on Tuesday are sponsored by Mastercard, which has donated over $70 million to SU2C since 2010. From July 12-16, the Stand Up To Cancer campaign will feature in two windows at the Saks Fifth Avenue New York. To take part, head up to the second floor photobooth where you can create a Stand Up To Cancer placard that will feature in the window display and can be shared on social media.

To further spread the word, SU2C stickers will be available at the Hudson Yards Concierge and participating restaurant, retail, e-commerce and NYC small business partners.

“Everyone has someone in mind when they think of cancer, which is why we’re leaning into the power of the collective to make an impact far beyond the stadium,” said Rustom Dastoor, executive vice president, Marketing & Communications, Americas, Mastercard. “Our partnership with Stand Up To Cancer gives cardholders a chance to make a meaningful difference and spread the word to support research in an accessible and shareable way.”
