    Free Go Africa Carnival will bring music, dance to Harlem this weekend

    HARLEM, N.Y. (PIX11) — Celebrate the influence of African culture all over the world at the Go Africa Carnival in Harlem.

    Performers and vendors will take over 116th Street from Seventh to Eighth Avenue s on Saturday. African community and cultural groups from across the five boroughs will fill three stages with with dance, art, music and traditional clothing.

    RSVP for this year’s Go Africa Carnival here . The event kicks off at 10 a.m. and runs through 6 p.m.

    Festival goers will be immersed in reggae music from New York City-based artists like Sekouba Bolomba, Gle Tchefary and Afrikan Kartel, as well as tunes throughout the day courtesy of DJ Birane.

    The free carnival was first held in 2015 and is supported by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs along with the City Council, as credited by organizers. The celebration of culture is brought together by Go Africa Network Inc., a non-profit that seeks to advance the awareness and socio-economic development of Africa and African diaspora through local and international outreach.
