New York City and the surrounding tri-state area is experiencing another heat wave, with Tuesday expected to be the hottest day of this stretch.

"I just want New Yorkers to know, do not underestimate the heat," Mayor Eric Adams said.

More than 500 cooling centers are open across the city, with heat indexes possibly topping 100 degrees. Pool hours in the city have also been extended.

"Clearly the summer is here, everyone enjoyed the beautiful outdoors, it was a lovely weekend to be outdoors this weekend, but in the midst of another heatwave this week, we want folks to take extra precaution," Adams said.
