Fandango Founder Dies After Falling From Luxury Hotel: Report

The co-founder of the movie ticketing app Fandango died on Tuesday after falling from a 20-story hotel in Manhattan. J. Michael Cline, 64, died by suicide after falling from the Kimberly Hotel, an upscale boutique hotel on East 50th Street, NYPD sources confirmed to the New York Post . The sources confirmed he left a note, but did not comment on its contents. Cline was a venture capitalist who founded the firm Accretive in 1999. He became an early investor in Fandango the same year, but left the company by 2011, according to his LinkedIn page. He sold his shares in Fandango to Comcast by 2007, Variety reported, and is still controlled by Comcast subsidiary NBC Universal. Cline was also a prominent philanthropist, serving as a trustee for the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and the co-founder of Panthera, an organization dedicated to saving big cats.
