Access to Grand Central Terminal’s Main Concourse ‘restricted’: MTA

MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) — Access to Grand Central Terminal’s Main Concourse was restricted Thursday due to planned protests in the area, according to the MTA .

Grand Central was not shut down, an MTA spokesperson said. The restriction was lifted as of Friday morning.

“Expect Main Concourse access restrictions in Grand Central today because of demonstrations in the area,” the MTA spokesperson said. “Follow guidance from MTA personnel or the police. Use TrainTime to confirm your departure track, as it may change.”

Virginia Leveque, who was visiting New York City from France with her husband and two daughters, had planned to see Grand Central’s Main Concourse.

“It’s a beautiful place I wanted to show my daughters, but we understand that it’s closed off. There are plenty of other things to see,” Leveque said.
