Some issues were reported at New York City's three area airports on Friday as a global outage impacted airlines, businesses and emergency services.

Flyers were urged to check ahead before going to JFK, LaGuardia and Newark airports for a flight. Delta, United and American all reported problems and had to ground flights because of an outage involving the cyber security firm Crowd Strike. It's blaming a defect in a Windows update, adding that this was not a cyber attack.

In addition to the airports, the MTA countdown clocks weren't working. The agency said the trains themselves were not impacted. New York City officials said it also worked with Crowd Strike to ensure that all critical services continued to operate.
