TIMES SQUARE, Manhattan (PIX11) — Serendipity 3, the whimsical New York City restaurant beloved by Andy Warhol and Marilyn Monroe, announced the opening of a new Times Square location on Tuesday.
The eatery is renowned for its “World Famous Frrrozen Hot Chocolate” and its “Outrageous Banana Split.” It holds eight Guinness World Records.
“ As we celebrate our 70th anniversary this year, we couldn’t think of a more perfect way to highlight this benchmark than expanding in the place that started it all – our home, New York City,” said Joe Calderone, Serendipity 3’s chief creative officer. “Serendipity 3 is a classic NYC destination for ice cream lovers, tourists, and locals alike, and we are so honored to move into the Theater District. This new location signifies a modernized take on our wonderfully weird, eclectic Upper East Side restaurant, and we’re excitedly preparing to welcome thousands of new customers into our W. 47th location later this year.”
A spokesperson told PIX11 News the new Times Square restaurant will open later this year.
“The space aims to be a bolder, more contemporary take on Serendipity 3’s signature funky, eclectic aesthetic,” the spokesperson added.

This will be the eatery’s only location other than the famed, colorful Upper East Side location.
The new location will be located next to the Oyo Times Square Hotel on West 47th Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues, according to the Serendipity 3 spokesperson.
