Jose Conseco roasts Yankees over starting lineup

The New York Yankee s made some changes to the starting lineup Tuesday night, and one former player couldn't believe his eyes.

Jose Conseco, former Yankee and author of "Juiced," ripped into the starting lineup manager Aaron Boone put together for the start of the Subway Series against the New York Mets.

Conseco called it "one of the worst lineups" he's ever seen. He must not have watched the 2023 Yankees when Aaron Judge was hurt. Now, that was painful.

Though the Yankees quite literally have two of the best hitters in MLB, Juan Soto and Aaron Judge, hitting at the top of the lineup, Conseco's not too far off the mark.

What the Yankees have around their superstar duo is incredibly lacking. Only two hitters not named Soto or Judge have a league-average 100 OPS+ — Giancarlo Stanton and Austin Wells.

Stanton has been injured for about a month while Wells just got to that league-average mark after his three-hit day in Monday's win.

The cleanup hitter in Tuesday's lineup, J.D. Davis, has a 70 OPS+ from the fourth spot this season, albeit in a limited sample.

With the trade deadline right around the corner, Conseco isn't the only one hoping the Yankees make some type of improvement to the lineup.
