Billy Joel’s 10-year residency at New York City’s famed arena Madison Square Garden comes to a close with a concert on Thursday, July 25. The finale of the Piano Man’s monthly series of shows, which began on January 27, 2014, will mark his 104th of the residency and the 150th concert that he’s played at the venue during his career.

In a recent statement about the end of the residency, Joel said, “When this franchise run at Madison Square Garden began in January 2014, I said I’d play one show a month ‘as long as the demand continues.’ I never imagined I’d still be playing one show a month 10 years later—it’s a testament to my amazing fans, and the 1.6 million people from around the world who have already been part of this historic residency.”

He added, Now, after ten incredible years, it feels right to conclude this journey with my 150th lifetime show at The Garden.”

Joel hasn’t announced whether any special guests will be joining him at the July 25 show, but it’s very likely. During the residency, Billy regularly welcomed well-known artists to the stage to sing one or more of their classic tunes with him and/or to duet with him on one of his own songs.

Joel’s first guest singer was AC/DC’s Brian Johnson, who appeared at a March 2014 show and sang his band’s smash “You Shook Me All Night Long.” Here’s a partial list of other stars who appeared during the residency: Tony Bennett, Jon Bon Jovi, Elvis Costello, Miley Cyrus, John Fogerty, Peter Frampton, John Mayer, John Mellencamp, Olivia Rodrigo, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, and Sting.

How Madison Square Garden Is Marking the End of the Residency

According to MSGEntertainment.com, Madison Square Garden will raise two banners in honor of Joel on July 25, commemorating his 104th residency show and his 150th career concert at the venue.

The arena also has opened a “Defining Moments” exhibit celebrating highlights of Joel’s residency. The display features such memorabilia as ticket stubs, a pair of Billy’s Ray-Ban sunglasses, set lists, photos from various concerts, and more. In addition, fans can write personal messages to Joel and take a pic at a custom photo booth.

Meanwhile, special merchandise commemorating Joel’s 150th MSG concert will be on sale at a special pop-up shop and at various vendor stands throughout the venue on July 25.

The items include an embroidered varsity jacket, T-shirts, posters, hats, tote bags, mugs, and more.

Also, “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant”-themed concessions will be available at Farley’s Bar, located inside the arena. The eatery will offer special food and drink menus.

The Final Residency Show Will Air on SiriusXM … Eventually

In honor of the residency ending, SiriusXM recently re-launched The Billy Joel Channel, which will be available for a limited time at the satellite radio platform.

According to USAToday.com, the channel will air Joel’s final residency concert exclusively sometime after the show takes place. The channel, which will be available until August 15, also offers a variety of Joel-themed programs. They include an exclusive Q&A with the Piano Man and a show featuring Joel reflecting on the residency.
