A new mural depicting city street life in a burst of color is now on view on W34th Street at the border of Hudson Yards and Hell’s Kitchen.

Artist Carlos Rosales-Silva created the 2,000 foot mural, titled Shape Stroll , on both sides of W34th Street between 10th Avenue and Dyer Avenue.

The mural is the latest installment of the Hudson Yards Hell’s Kitchen Alliance’s (HYHK) arts program, on two walls above the Lincoln Tunnel, owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. It was created with the assistance of Debra Simon Art Consulting and funded by HYHK and Tishman Speyer, the developer behind the office tower The Spiral (bw W34/35th Streets and 10th Ave/Hudson Blvd. East).

The shapes on the mural pop from a dark blue background and represent a combination of the people, architecture and plants that exist throughout Manhattan. They are meant to appear in motion, similar to the pedestrians passing by.

“Painting this work was a joy, between the volunteers and the public,” said Rosales-Silva in an announcement. “I am so proud of this mural and hope it brightens people’s day as they pass by.”

Lincoln Tunnel General Manager Stephen Knapp said: “We are thrilled to partner with HYHK BID to display site-specific street art at the Lincoln Tunnel, so both commuters and community members can experience welcoming world-class art in their own backyard.”

More new murals may soon be coming to Hell’s Kitchen through a new initiative led by the office of Councilmember Erik Bottcher.
