Steals are a common thing in the NBA as it is one of the five basic statistics in basketball, along with points, rebounds, assists, and blocked shots. However, when Mike Bibby played for the New York Knicks , somebody stole more than just the ball from him. That's because Bibby claims that one of his teammates actually stole money from him.

During a recent appearance on The OGs show , Bibby narrated how that movie-like story happened to hosts Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller.

" We always gamble on the plane so I like to have cash," said Bibby. "So I would always have an envelope in my bag. I know where my money's at, I know where it's in my bag. I know I sit in there, I got my Bible with my money. So there's one time on the plane, I went in for my money, and it was gone so I'm like 'Damn, I lost my envelope.' So I went to the stewardess. 'Hey if you find an envelope, let me know'. So they didn't find nothing. It happened a few times but I never caught it."

JR Smith wanted to whoop the thief's**

Mike finally caught who was stealing his money during a road trip to Chicago. The 1997 NCAA champion said that he lost an envelope containing $5,000 inside his hotel room while there. When he reported it to security, they investigated using CCTV footage and electronic room log-in data and determined which teammate entered his room and presumably stole his money.

Bibby reported the incident to coach Mike Woodson, and the Knicks held a team meeting while driving to Milwaukee for their next game. On the bus, Bibby talked to his teammates about the difference between borrowing money and stealing from teammates. When JR Smith heard Bib's story, Smith wanted to take matters into his own hands.

"We get to Milwaukee," added Bibby. "JR Smith called me as soon as we get there like 'Hey, you want to ride on this MF right now?' I said 'Can't whoop him right now'. He can't whoop him. I'm in the mindset of getting another contract. I'ma play it cool. You know, just lay low."

The thief said it was a joke

In their Milwaukee hotel, the thief went to Bibby's room at three o'clock in the morning. In the presence of team security, team GM, and coach Woodson, he laid out all the money he stole from Bibby and claimed it was just a joke. But of course, Mike didn't buy his excuse.

Bibby didn't say anything about who the thief was except that he was a young player on that team. Well, Mike played only one season for the Knicks in 2011-12 . The young guys on the team were rookies Josh Harrelson, Jerome Jordan, and Iman Shumpert. Jeremy Lin and Landry Fields both had one year of experience heading to that season, while Tony Douglas played two years and Henry Walker three.

Haslem said he knew the culprit but didn't say who was on the show, so your guess is as good as ours. Among the names mentioned above, however, Harrelson and Jordan were no longer on the Knicks roster the following season.
